Pay per click (PPC) advertising is one of the best ways to get targetted
visitors to your website. If you have a new website or aren't having much luck getting
into the regular search engine results, then I highly recommend starting a PPC search
engine marketing campaign.
The king of the pay per click engines has to be Google Adwords. In the past I have used Google Adwords,
Yahoo! Search Marketing (Overture) and a few of the lesser known PPC engines and I have to say that Google is my
favourite, both in terms of effectiveness, volume of traffic and ease of use.
You can sign up for your own Google
Adwords account here, but before you get started I recommend taking the time
to read the help guide - you don't want to start a campaign and then log on a week
later to find that you've spent hundreds of dollars! I would also highly recommend
signing up to receive Perry Marshall's Free 5-part email course on Adwords
This way you'll learn all the important stuff and save yourself both money and time.
The next biggest PPC search engine marketing site is Yahoo! Search Marketing, formerly
known as Overture. Yahoo has the next highest volume of traffic after Google, but I personally
find Google Adwords much easier to use than Yahoo!
You may want to start off with Google Adwords, then once you are happy
with the performance of your ad and the conversion rate of your keywords you could then
replicate the campaign in Yahoo! Search Marketing. You can sign up for your own
Yahoo! Search Marketing account here.
Finally, lets not forget about some of the smaller PPC search engines. These can be great
when you are just starting out and have a smaller budget, as it's possible to find 1c per click
keywords on these engines
